Okay ladies (and gents!), I am down 35 pounds as of this morning, and my clothes are starting to suffer because of it. I was looking at myself in the mirror last night and my jeans are starting to look like parachute pants!
There are two pairs of pants, one pair of jeans and a pair of dressier pants, and a small handful of shirts that I can wear. I am getting tired of wearing the same thing every other day, but I don't want to spend money on new clothes right now! What do I do? What have you done?
How have you transitioned smoothly from one size to another without breaking the bank!?
Added December 28th- I need size 18/20 (1xl) tops and pants for those of you who have anything to pass along. I promise I will pay it forward!

I know you don't want to buy new clothes, but maybe some transition clothes from a nice thrift store or second hand shop. Maybe you can consign/or trade?
Good luck! :) You are doing great! :)
I'm pretty much living out of thrift stores now. I get quality brands in good (and sometimes new!) condition for very little money... so I don't get as upset to have to change out my wardrobe every couple months! Plus, rather than wearing baggy and stretch, I can feel good about how I look-- very important to keep up my motivation!
Like the other commenters said, find some decent resale shops or thrift stores and buy a little bit of transition clothes for each size you get to. At first, I was so excited each time I hit a new size I kept buying but that got old pretty quick when everything got big after another month or two. It might not be exactly what you want or the colors, etc., but it'll fit on your way down.
hand me downs from a dear friend that is taking it off ahead of me and sales @ Kohl's with coupons has helped out!! I've seen ads on Craigs list, woman wanting smaller clothes as they shrink. good luck and the clothes being too big is a good thing! ;-)
For every 10 to 20 pounds I lose, I buy a couple of new shirts and pants. For every 30 pounds I lose I buy a new skirt or dress. I am losing weight still, so they don't fit for long, but I don't want to go out and buy a whole wardrobe until I reach my target weight.
I had clothes in MANY sizes....so I just went to storage and rummaged around. I also went to discount stores like Ross and TJ Maxx. Thrift stores are great, too....many times you can find clothes with the tags still on them!
Thanks ladies, I really do need to check out my local thrift shop. The only problem though is that I live in a...well, how do I say this...very "health conscious" town and there usually aren't any plus sizes available. I guess I need to start bringing them some!!! ;)
Thanks for all of the ideas. I am at 30lbs and was having the same question! My loss has slowed down to about .5 a week and I am so ready for my second fill hopefully in another week! I think I might hit the thrift stores this week. I am in need of weekend clothes. I saved some work clothes in smaller sizes, but I am out of casual clothes.
I've started following your blog! I think your doing an amazing job well done on your weight lose! What about ebay? worth a look.. I live is Australia and LOVE torrid I noticed they had a massive sale 50% off their sale items atm... We dont have torrid here but luckily they post to OZ! K x
What sizes are you in need of right now? Why not put a shout out to the Sisterhood of the Traveling XL Dress? :) I still have a few things that I need to send out, and I'm sure that other bandsters have things in your current size for you!
Congratulations on your success!! I remember the first time I realized that nothing I owned fit -- It was great, but stressful all at once!

I'll be posting some items on my blog today, check them out and let me know if I can send you anything...
I got your comment so I just sent an email for your mailing address... new (to you) clothes coming your way soon! yaah!
It is a great problem to have! I only really shop at thrift stores anyway...$10 for a pair of pants won't break the bank.
BODA weight loss
Good job with the 35 lb loss!

I think I have some clothes I could share, I need to go through them. I try hard to hit sales. Like old navy just had a one day only, in store only sale this past Sat for 415 denium and I bought 4 new pair of jeans! Stuff like that is the only way I can keep up w/ my ever changing body.
Great! I have some cute jeans for you in an 18, and possibly a few other things as well. If you e-mail your address to me at chroniclesfrombandland@gmail.com, I'll send them out when I get back from my New Year's trip! Don't dispair on the shopping. . . you'll be out of the plus sizes very soon at this rate (though it is so lame that they push that dept into a hidden corner. . not that I haven't appreciated that when I wanted to shop without seeing anyone I know. .).
Happy New Year!
Catherine
I try to buy things that will look good as I loose weight and go cheap and basic. I have gone from a size 6x to a 18-20 in most things and I wait until stuff literally falls off and buy it as tight as I can in what size fits me then. Old Navy jean sales, goodwill, thrift shopping and old clothes I now fit in again saved me quite a bit.
