Puppy Love

I want a dog.

Badly.

My husband does not.

We had a dog before our boys were even born, but through a series of circumstances, we ended up re-homing him. We re-homed him, not because he wasn't wanted, but because he wasn't getting what he needed any longer since I had an infant attached to my boobies 24/7! I would take him back in a heartbeat- I miss him like crazy.

I have started thinking about adopting another dog since my boys are now at an age where I feel I actually have the capacity to love another living thing. My boys both want a dog, I want a dog, but my husband is totally against the idea. All he thinks about is hair, stink, vet. bills, and just another expense. When I think of a dog, I think of love, loyalty, fun...etc. We are on totally different sides of the coin here, and I just don't know what to do! I don't know how to convince my husband of how badly I want another dog.

This is Nani- she needs a new forever home and I want her!

Oh yeah, I have eaten WAY too much today and feel like a total failure. It's amazing what stress can do.

UPDATE: NANI WAS AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE ONCE WE MET HER! THE PEOPLE I SPOKE WITH ON THE PHONE MADE HER SOUND PERFECT FOR OUR FAMILY, BUT SHE WAS HORRIBLE!!! She mauled my boys- it was bad.

I hear you about wanting a dog. My husband didn't want one either primarily for the hair factor. I convinced him we should get one that didn't shed and he was fine. Brutus is a shi zuh/poodle mix and does not shed! We got him as a puppy and he is now 3 years old. I am the only one shedding around here!

Good luck with convincing hubs! You are looking and doing great by the way!

We watched all of the Dogs 101 shows, on Animal Planet, and were convinced we were ready for a dog again. We have had cats only (our first) for the last 5 yrs. Then, my college age son adopted an adorable puppy (chow/boxer mix). We have had Bailey for a couple of long weekends already and guess what? We AREN'T ready! She's great, I love her, but...she's a lot of work! If there is any way you could dog sit a friend's pet, do it! I'm grateful we had this experience BEFORE adopting.

My Dyson Animal takes care of the pet hair issue with our cats. Our last dog was a shih tzu - no shedding and low dander! Good luck!

I am not alot of help here because I have three labs and love them to pieces. Yes, there is hair and dust and dog toys but I cannot imagine not having them. Good luck on getting your husband on board.

We had the same problem but we eventually turned him around. We adopted our little boy a year ago and we all could not imagine life without him...he is on my lap now!!! He has changed my life in so many ways by keeping me company when I was injured to a new career as a vet nurse. It is so worth it. We keep his hair cut short and it is no problem. Good luck

my husband didn't want a dog either.... I bought one anyway....and guess whose baby girl the dog is now....yea, his.

He didn't speak to me for 4 days , was REALLY pissed. I don't recommend this, but so often it's a tough issue to agree on.

It helped that I bought a non-shedding dog...but she has cost quite a bit in this and that.
