Day 2 of Low Carb- Feeling Good so Far!

Today was our second day of low carb eating, my husband is doing it with me, which is very helpful. Even though he doesn't really need to lose weight, it helps if we both eat the same things. I hate having to prepare totally different meals for the family.

I don't feel deprived at all...yet. We have discovered delicious spicy soy and flax seed torilla chips from Trader Joe's that are super, super yum and only have 6 carbs per serving and are packed full of fiber and protein. AND, they actually fill me up! In addition to that, to help with my sweet cravings, we have found that Atkins makes a to-die-for chocolate and coconut bar (that tastes just like the Mounds candybar) and only has 3 net carbs and Breyers makes a low carb ice cream that tastes better than the original. Seriously.

The scale showed a five pound loss from 290 to 285 in one day. BUT, I could tell I lost a ton of water. I am interested to see what the scale says tomorrow. I plan on following a low carb meal plan until I shed a few pounds and start to feel better about myself. After that I want to go back to following a low calorie sensible diet and once my feet don't hurt so bad from gaining 40 pounds overnight, I hope to start pounding the pavement.

Switching noodles- I was at Target today with my boys and while heading towards the exit, we passed a woman. My three year old son turns to me and says, "That was a lady Mommy. She was a small lady and you're a big lady". I simply said, "Thanks for the observation honey". *SIGH* We can always count on our kids for brutal honesty can't we.

I can't wait until my daughter asks me why I am light and she is dark...kids are great for brutal honesty sometimes. Glad you had a good day and glad to hear that hubby is joining you. Blessings--Bonnie

Lynn, I would love to help you...you sound like you could really use a hand. Please see my dicksdiet.blogspot.com site to see my journey...it worked. You should consider the program that I tried. A little discipline and routine exercise will get you great results. If you have questions, please email me. Dick

Lynn, I read over quite a few of your posts. One question, are you exercising? If not, your metabolism will just slow down to match whatever your intake is...the lower it is, the worse you feel and the harder the weight loss will be regardless of calories.

Hi Lynn. I'm so glad I found your site. I am a stay at home mom that's lived a life of dieting. I actually lost 70 pounds on Weight Watchers 6 years ago, and now I'm back even heavier, after pregnancy and struggling with life as a mom of a special needs child. This time I am doing this to be healthy and happy for me and my children. I'm going to focus less on "how much did I lose" (but I AM going to lose!) I'm glad I can lean on your blog for support and someone else who's going through the journey, at similar points in our life/weight. I'm not doing low-carb, but I just picked up some Breyers CarbSmart Fudge Bars that were really good (2 points for Weight Watchers), but only 3 net carbs for the low-carb diet. I can't buy a gallon of ice cream, but I do a lot better with ice cream bars. I can have 1 or 2 and stop. That gallon does me in. :) Thanks again for you openness and honesty and willingness to share! Becky

Yippee! You are off to a good start and I am glad your hubby is so supportive too.

Yes, it won't be long before your feet/joints can take the pavement pounding again and then the weight will come off really well.

Kids, eh? You gotta love em!

So glad to hear it is going well so far! Make sure you acknowledge ever little accomplishment such as sticking with your plan whether it be for one meal or one day! It is human nature to be hard on ourselves rather than pat ourselves on the back.
