HYC Check In and God's Grace

With the grace of God, my spirits have lifted a bit today. Thank you for all of your comments and inspiration. We are continuing to deal with a small "health" problem with my two year old that has me breaking out in hives (yes, Kate, it's gotten worse).
Also with God's grace, the scale reflected no weight gain during my wallows in the abyss. I ate a healthy breakfast with my husband this morning, and I plan to stay on track for the rest of the day.
Thanks again to all of you for pushing me along. I know that I couldn't be successful if I was alone.

Relatives can really do a number on your plans, can't they?

Glad to see you're back in the game. I feel some kinship here, sharing a name the way we do ;-)

I am out surfing diet blogs and just wanted to say hello. I can relate to relatives bringing your mood down- I think it's easy to "soak up" the problems of someone you're close to if you're already not in a great place yourself. (Speaking from experience, here.)

I am the queen of taking on other people's emotions and learning to step back and distance myself emotionally...be there for them, not actually be like them. You are stepping out of it nicely, sounds like the visit wreaked havoc on you...congrats for stepping back to where you want to be :)

Good for you, quickly getting back on track. It's obvious you love your sister, but don't let her drag you down. *hugs* Be sure while you are helping her bear her burdens that you remember to take care of yourself--I'm glad you are taking the initiative on that! Keep up the good work!!

Dear Lynn, I hesitate to leave this comment and have thought about it for a while, so forgive me if it is unwanted advice. But from a lot of your posts, I think you have a problem with setting boundaries. And then you are unhappy with how people treat you, which is extremely stressful, and then makes you overeat. There is a book I have read that maybe would be helpful to you. It is simply called Boundaries by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend.

If you want more information, feel free to email me, Lynn.

Debby-
Thanks for the advice, I have been told by many people in my life that I have a problem with boundaries. I can never say no. I am working on this...
Thanks for the book, I will look into it.
As for exercising boundaries immediately, I have decided that my sister is not welcome to stay here again if she will not allow me to discipline her son, plain and simple. Our rules are their rules!
